Q&A with Jess Feinerman

As our Sales Events Manager, Jess Feinerman knows what it takes to make a great event: lots of planning, the right group of people, food and drinks and maybe a party after all the hard work to cut loose a little. We checked in with Jess to see what else she’s up to – when she’s not working on our next big event.

Q: How long have you been at SmartWool? A: 10 years

Q: What’s your favorite sock and why? A: My current favorite sock is the Women’s PhD® Run Light Elite Micro. It’s very comfortable, with just the right amount of cushion in the right places: cushy in the heel and toe, and less so around the arch to eliminate bulk.

Q: Favorite Piece and why? A: One of my favorite pieces is the Micro 150 Cami. We don’t make these anymore, but I found it very versatile – I’d wear it under my bike jersey in the cooler months, and as a cami with skirts and under shirts.

Q: Oldest Piece? A: I think my oldest piece is probably one of the original Micro 150 tanks or crews. We’ve since updated our fit, so I don’t wear these older shirts as much, but I still have them in the closet.

Q: SmartWool Dream Product? A: Honestly, I think we already make a lot of dream products. We have everyone covered from their undergarments to their outer layers.

Q: What do you like to do outside of your 9-5? A: Skiing in the winter; road and mountain biking in the spring, summer and fall; and hiking all year, especially when the wildflowers are blooming.

Q: What inspires you? A: People who are driven and passionate.

Q: What would you do with two weeks “off” and an unlimited budget? A: Travel around Europe, always flying first class and with all the luxuries, of course!

Q: Favorite thing to give? A: SmartWool socks! I’ll quite often send care packages to my family in New Zealand. There was a Christmas a few years ago when I didn’t give SmartWool socks, and let’s just say it didn’t go down very well. Since then, although I don’t think it’s very creative, I always send socks.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure? A: Really good chocolate in any flavor. As long as it’s from Europe or New Zealand.

Q: What did we forget to ask? A: About the SmartWool Coed Softball Team – we have a team of employees and spouses who play each week from June to August. The team is a testament to our culture: how many places do you work with people who you enjoy spending at least one evening a week with? Although we’re a competitive group, we keep it fun by having a few beers together pre-, post- or during the game. I think we push each other to do our best – inside and outside of the office.
