The North Face Endurance Challenge Santiago, Chile
We want to give a big shout out to Marlene Flores who won the women’s category of the North Face Endurance Challenge 100 in Chile.
Starting near 700 meters (2300 feet) and ascending to nearly 2,200 meters (7200 feet), the course was chock full of challenging terrain and demanding weather conditions; the prefect proving ground for our socks. Marlene recently shared some thoughts on the race and her experience with SmartWool socks:
“While training and racing, my feet must survive the cold snowy conditions, sandy conditions, and wet muddy conditions. It’s fundamental to use the right socks to help keep your feet comfortable and are tough enough to last.
In the second half of The North Face Endurance Challenge Santiago, Chile, Julio offered me a fresh pair of SmartWool PhD Run Ultra Light socks. They were thinner than my previous pair and a lower profile. I had my reservations about the change. I thought that they were going to bunch up under my heel because they seemed too low. I hesitated, but thankfully I took Julio’s advice because he was right. My feet felt great and the socks felt like new for the rest of the 80K in the race.
Finishing in 1st place is a great achievement for me. I know that Julio and SmartWool gave me the confidence and peace of mind to focus on competing.”
